Northern Virginia Table Tennis Club

The Northern Virginia Table Tennis Club: What: Membership: Check us out

NVTTC Red T-shirtInterested in "checking us out"? Here's what you need to know:

bulletJust stop by; see the schedule of playing times. All meetings are informal, just show up ready to play and pick a table.
bulletBring your own paddle (preferably a "USATT legal" paddle, but for informal games anything will do. NVTTC provides the tables and balls.
bulletDress to work up a sweat. Either come in workout clothes, or bring a change with you; there are restrooms available on the first floor where you can change.
bulletYou'll probably enjoy the game more if you play against players close to your own level; though you can "learn more" by watching and playing some of the better players on occasion.
bulletSettings at NVTTC are informal, but typically the beginner/intermediate level players like to congregate in room 11; while more advanced players head for room 12, with room 10 being an overflow/mixed room.
bulletYou're welcome to play with anyone in any room however; feel free to move from room to room throughout the evening.
bulletIn the earlier hours you're more likely to find doubles games going on in room 11
bulletYou'll usually find us playing 11 point games.
bulletWhen you enter a room with your paddle, you assume the last place in line (assuming there is a wait).
bulletOnce you're up, if the games are 21 points, you'll play one game (newcomer always serves first), then switch table sides to take on the next player in line.
bulletIf the room is playing 11 point games, you will play at least 2 games with the current player; playing the "best 2 out of 3" games, switching sides for each game. After the match is over you will play the next person in line.
bulletThe server should announce the score before each serve; remember that the server's score is listed first.
bulletIf you like what you see, look for any of the club officers and sign up. $60 for a year's membership  is really a great deal for the playing time you'll get and facilities at your disposal. If you don't see one of us at the club, feel free to call or email us.
bullet Email Chris to get added to the club's email list; no obligation - we'll notify you of changes to playing hours, club events, or updates on the website.
