Join us for ATTC USATT League matches:

How it works:

ATTC will be scheduling periodic "League" matches. The league matches will work very much like a tournament, but matches will be spread out over a 2 week period, giving players time to schedule matches with one another during regular club play time.

Each player will receive an official USATT "League" rating. Unrated players start with a rating of 800, and their ratings will adjust from there with the results of each match. Players with existing USATT ratings will start out with a league rating matching their existing USATT rating -- but the league rating is DIFFERENT from the official rating. Rated players can compete in league matches without affecting their official rating; but will maintain and develop a separate league rating. Players will be able to view their ratings on the USATT web site.

Each match will be a best 3-of-5 set of 11 point games. Scores will be recorded and returned to the club secretary. All scores and match results will be tallied, and results published to the USATT web site. At the end of the league event, all participants will receive USATT "league" ratings.

Matches will be scheduled based on tournament groups. Groups are arranged based on the players preferred playing times, and level of play. Current groupings will be:

bulletEarly group (4-6pm play) - Intermediate Players
bulletEarly group - Advanced Players
bulletLate group (6-9pm play) - Intermediate Players
bulletLate group - Advanced Players

Among each group, matches will be arranged round-robin; so every player will play every other player in his/her group. Once each event is complete, event results and player's ratings will be posted at Madison Center.

Benefits:

bulletAll participants will receive and develop USATT maintained League ratings
bulletThere is no additional cost (aside from ATTC and USATT membership)
bulletPreviously unrated players will now have an organized mechanism to gauge their playing level
bulletOtherwise unrated players will have a means to gauge their participation in USATT tournaments

Requirements:

bulletAll participants must be ATTC members
bulletAll participants must be USATT members (any level of USATT membership is ok - including the $12/year tournament membership)
bulletPlayers must be able to play the required number of matches during the 2-week league event; each player will be responsible for arranging playing times with those players he/she is required to play. E-mail addresses will be made available to ease scheduling.
bulletLeague ratings are computed using the exact same formula as USATT uses to calculate official ratings; the only difference is that official ratings are ONLY adjusted based on USATT sanctioned tournament matches.
bulletLeague matches will be played at Madison community center - unless both players agree to play the match at Gunston
