The Northern Virginia Table Tennis Club: James Lee
Community Center
Attention
Northern Virginia
Table Tennis Players!
After a long period of negotiations with
Fairfax County, we are very
excited to announce a new "pilot" playing facility for our club!
Fairfax
County facilities are reserved by seasons (4 per year) and
Fairfax
County has agreed to let our club use the facilities at
James Lee
Center for the playing season from March 15th through June 15.
For the pilot
period we will have the "small" gym at James Lee
Center on Friday evenings from 6-9 PM. For those of you who have not seen this facility -- the "small" gym is
probably 50% larger than the gym at
Madison. We could comfortably fit 10
tables in this gym. It was just renovated and looks brand new. It has a
hard surface floor, great lighting, bleachers along the side, and both a
mens and womens locker room/shower/changing facility adjacent to the
gym. The facility is located on Annandale Road about 2 blocks from Route
50. The address is 2855-A Annandale Road, Falls Church VA 22042.

Now the
conditions:
 | Since this is
a Fairfax County facility there will be an additional charge to play at this
facility. Per Fairfax County regulations
the fees will be $5.50 per "season" PER Fairfax
County resident. Non Fairfax
County residents are charged at $25.50 per "season".
For a full year of play at this facility, this would add up to
$22 for Fairfax County
residents and $102 for non Fairfax County residents.
|
 | Anyone wishing
to play at this facility must be an NVTTC member. If you're not yet
a member or not current on your dues, you will need to be current
before you will be allowed to use this new facility. Since we own
the tables, we set the rules as well; same playing rules as we
impose at Madison. |
 | The Fairfax
County fees will be collected by the club and paid to
Fairfax
County (we are not making any money on that process). The County only
accepts payment from the organization; not individuals.
Fairfax
County also requires the names of ALL participants before the season
starts. |
 | All interested
players MUST sign up AND submit the season's county
fee BEFORE the beginning of the season.
A form is attached to provide the necessary information, and Mike
Brown (the club treasurer) will be taking payments. |
 | We know this
is only one night a week currently; if we make a good showing
with Fairfax County in the upcoming season we hope to expand to more days per week -
and eventually to other facilities as well. |
 | If the pilot
goes well players will have the opportunity to sign up for
subsequent seasons. The next season starts June 15 so we will make a
decision before then as to whether to pursue expanding further. |
 | We are
required by the county to offer training from 6-7PM for any
interested local teens or seniors. We will set designate one of our
tables from 6-7 for this purpose and if anyone shows up for this
training they will have precedence on this table. *We are also
looking for volunteers to train these players; contact Enrique Matta
if you are interested. |
